Hey there everyone! My name is Matt Papa, and I am beyond excited to introduce you to my new company, Wonder Connect!
If you would have told me 6 months ago that I would be launching my first company after going through all of the trails and tribulations (and mountains of paperwork) of registering a new business in Japan, I would have said that is absolutely bonkers. I worked in the Japanese game industry for 10 years now, and over my tenure here I’ve worn A LOT of different hats at different companies, working as hard as I can to get the console games I loved into as many hands as possible.
Over time I realized I created a pretty unique skillset in this industry, having been the lead on well over twenty console games to date for English Localization, Marketing, Community Management, Biz Dev, and Production, oftentimes being responsible for many of these roles at the same time. Sometimes things were crazy, like when I had to manage a community, create and execute marketing strategies, oversee the translations of a very text heavy game whilst being present for every recording session with the voiceover artists for that project. It was absolutely draining at times, but I wouldn’t trade experiences like that for anything, because if I did, Wonder Connect probably wouldn’t exist.
I have had the absolute pleasure of working some amazing companies throughout my time in this industry, whether I was working an employee there or they were one of the many partners I worked with over the years. The things I learned and the experiences I accumulated during that time has all come together to form this company, and a new path forward in this industry I love so much.
